Pell Grant Increase Passes! – Obama Gets Moms Back In School!

Posted in Loan by Advisor on June 7th, 2010

President Obama made a campaign promise to assist more moms in getting an education. This year, 2009 he made that promise a reality! The Federal education grant, commonly called the PELL GRANT has been increased! Raising the grant amount will help millions of single parents that are currently low income get their education!

In the past the government was subsidizing banks and private lenders in order to encourage student loans. Obama set out to stop that practice and put those funds to a better use with the Pell Grant. This may be one of the first decisions a politician has made in decades that is actually common sense based! By putting that money toward Pell Grants, moms will actually be able to get their education and begin a new career without the burden of a student loan. Imagine that, starting a great career without a huge debt to pay back!

More and more politicians have seen the light! Putting those monies that were previously used to encourage student loans, toward increasing the Pell Grant will help millions of struggling parents and other low income groups. Education Secretary Ann Duncan couldn’t agree more! She recently said that the government needs to help more people with educational aid and stop subsidizing banks which we have done for too long! Common sense has won out, finally!

Now single moms and dads will have the chance to get more money than ever before from government if they choose to go back to school. This initiative will make it possible for more people to actually receive the grants than ever before! However, if you don’t qualify for a Pell you need to be aware that you have MANY other options available! You can still go back to school with scholarships!
